Friends,

Two years ago Joe Shaffer and I tested our friendship and took the challenge of pedaling 150 miles on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP Trail) on a tandem bike. Well, we still have the tandem, our friendship and we still need to raise money to continue the work of the Espwa Foundation. 

So we are doing it again! We'll be back on the tandem for another test of our friendship and to raise needed funds. The three day 150 mile ride is in August & I've set a goal of $20,000. Money raised will go towards paying for Haitian children's education & healthcare, supporting a local Haitian doctor & medical clinic and support clean water initiatives in Haiti. These are just a few of Espwa's projects that support local in Haiti making a difference. Check out www.espwa.com for our full list of projects.

Espwa’s Ride the GAP is a fundraising adventure bike ride on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). This 3-day excursion spans 150 miles from Cumberland, MD to Pittsburgh, PA. Riders of all skill levels are welcome on this fully supported ride. Funds raised from this charity bike ride will be used to support the projects of the Espwa Foundation. 

The Espwa Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to impacting those in poverty in the Cap Haitien, Haiti region.  "Espwa" is the Haitian Creole word for "hope."  We believe it's all about relationships and that through long-term development, we can truly help our brothers and sisters in Haiti.  We don't just throw money at problems, or give handouts when they are not the appropriate type of intervention.  We assess situations, get to know those involved, and come up with strategies to achieve personal and professional growth.  In our project portfolio, we engage in medical relief by partnering with local physicians, and undertake development efforts across the spectrum: family support, farming, small business, pastoral support, and more.  Join our movement of hope in Haiti today!
